Chapter 4
Blood Is Thicker

I read Chapter 4 from the book "Blood Is Thicker", in this chapter Hakeem is very tired & stressed out with his new life with his family. Hakeem has now been working in his Uncle's store for a couple days now & he is tired & fed up with all the work he has to do, he feels as if he doesn't time for himself & is bombarded with work. Hakeem is getting tired of his family always talking about him as if he were perfect & not "knowing what he's really thinking", always comparing him to his cousin Savon. Savon has been really "sus" lately & hasn't been really doing good overall, always trying to pick a fight & bugging Hakeem. Hakeem is starting to get frustrated & tired of Savon treating him the way he's been & is starting to loose his patience. Hakeem starts to play his guitar that same afternoon, it had been a couple of days since he's played. Anika was out there patiently waiting & listening to Hakeem play, Hakeem was playing his guitar & all his stress & problems went away, he felt a sense of relief for a bit. Anika & Hakeem went our & ate a slice of pizza & started talking, Ankia has far more problems than he thought & far worse. He was glad to be spending time with Anika, but Savon didnt think so. Savon & Anika used to date but that was before, Savon teased Hakeem when he saw them walking back home, Hakeem didn't like the fact that he teased him about his old girlfriend Darcy, he was puzzled that he even knew about Darcy. Hakeem's day got a little better after they got home & Anika said goodnight.

chapter 3

                              Summary

I read the story "Blood is thicker", in chapter 3 things are starting to change for Hakeem, now he's helping out his uncle in the store because his dad is to sick to do anything. Hakeem feels dreadful about working in the store with his uncle because its so much hard work & he feels worn out of all that he's had to do filling in for his dad. Uncle James thinks highly of Hakeem & thinks he's a good influence on Savon, Uncle James asked Hakeem to keep an eye on Savon because he has doubts about Savon & him staying out of trouble but little does he know that Savon & Hakeem already have problems & have confrontations, but Hakeem says yes anyways. Hakeem's mother feels bad for Hakeem, for everything that is occurring but there's nothing that can be done. After Hakeem gets hoe thinking about how horrible is day was & how he has to go back to the store tomorrow, his two little sisters Charmaine & Charlene knock on the door & told Hakeem that Anika was looking for him & about how he was supposed to teach her how to play the guitar & that brightened his day up, his sisters consistent giggling made him question what they were laughing so much about, his sisters were laughing about how Anika thught that Hakeem was cute &that made Hakeem's day much better.
I thought that the selection was well put into oragnization & very easy to undertand.

Summary, Chapter 2

"Blood is thicker"

Chapter 2 of the story blood is thicker describes about his first day with his family in Detroit. Hakeem doesn't feel welcomed by his cousin Savon. Savon wasn't very happy about have a new "room mate", tho on the other hand Hakeem's aunt is very pleased about his family's stay in Detroit. Hakeem's aunt see's him as a good influence & likes his character she wants Savon to be more like Hakeem. Savon doesn't really seem to have a father figure due to his father spending time at his shop. Savon seems to be upset with life. Hakeem seems to have a stuttering problem, & uses his guitar to relive stress & get his mind off things. His day got better when he met a girl that is now his new neighbor, now Hakeem has hope that his stay in detorit might be better than he thought.

My personal reaction to the reading selection is that I would feel the same way Hakeem felt if i were treated like that.

I believe the authors intent was to tell a story about a boy who is going thru changes in his life that he doesn't like very much.

I read chapter 1 of the story blood is thicker.
The story is about a family going thru though times, a dad who has cancer & no longer is capable of doing the activities he used to. They're young sun named Hakeem is very sad & depressed about all the current situations going on in his life at the moment. Hakeem was forced to more to Detroit because of his fathers health & inability to work or make money, it was hard to Hakeem to say goodbye to all his friends & girlfriend Darcy. Hakeem was dreading going back to Detroit because its been so long, Hakeem was feeling unpleasant. In his head he said "Welcome to the neighborhood".

I believe my note taking style is webs , or word bubbles. I find it easier for me to put down information faster.
 

The last thing I read was a text , it was very long & meaningful. It meant a lot to me.

The type of reader that I am claimed to be a comedic reader. I enjoy  reading comedy with interesting characters with a good plot twist. I don't read much but when I do I forget everything & just read.
